Carer's Support Grant - €2,000 Annual Payment for Carers

The Carer's Support Grant provides €2,000 per year to full-time carers in Ireland. It's automatic if you receive Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) or Carer's Allowance (CA), and it's not means-tested.

Who Qualifies for the Carer's Support Grant

Automatic Recipients

If you receive Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA), Carer's Allowance (CA), or Carer's Benefit (CB), you automatically receive the grant.

  • Paid automatically in June
  • Applies every year

Other Full-Time Carers

Full-time carers not receiving DCA, CA, or CB can apply using Form CSG1.

  • Must care full-time
  • Submit Form CSG1

No Means Test

The grant is not means-tested, so your income doesn't affect your eligibility.

Payments are made on the first Thursday in June every year. Automatic recipients receive it without applying.

Not Taxable

The grant is not treated as taxable income. You do not need to declare it to Revenue or include it in tax returns.

No Restrictions on Use

There are no restrictions on how you spend the grant. Use it for respite care, equipment, support, or personal needs.

Check if You're Automatic

If you receive DCA, Carer's Allowance, or Carer's Benefit, you qualify automatically. No application needed.

If Not Automatic: Request Form CSG1

Contact the Intreo Centre or Department of Social Protection. Request the Carer's Support Grant application form (CSG1).

Submit Your Application

Complete and submit Form CSG1 between April and 31 December of the following year. You can apply in the year you become eligible.
